Scottish Event Campus, Glasgow, UK Friday, 21st – Sunday, 23rd February 2025 The Scottish Labour Party Conference 2025 took place over three days at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, bringing together party members, politicians, and key figures to discuss the party’s vision for Scotland’s future. The conference served as a platform for policy announcements, strategy discussions, and speeches from prominent Labour leaders.

On the opening day, Anas Sarwar, leader of the Scottish Labour Party, delivered a keynote speech in which he outlined his vision for Scotland and formally declared his intention to run for Scotland’s First Minister in the next election. Sarwar emphasized his commitment to major policy reforms aimed at improving the lives of Scottish citizens. Among his key pledges were:

• Completely ending rough sleeping in Scotland, promising increased investment in social housing and support services to ensure no one is left without shelter.

• Banning mobile phones in classrooms to create a more focused and productive learning environment for students, aiming to raise educational standards.

• Implementing significant NHS reforms, with a focus on reducing waiting times, improving patient access to care, and ensuring the sustainability of Scotland’s healthcare system.

Sarwar positioned himself as the leader who could bring “big, bold, and meaningful change” to Scotland after years of Scottish National Party (SNP) governance. His speech was met with strong support from party members, reinforcing Labour’s ambitions to challenge the SNP in the upcoming Scottish elections.

On the final day of the conference, Prime Minister Keir Starmer took to the stage to address the Scottish Labour Party for the first time since becoming Prime Minister. His speech focused on Labour’s renewed commitment to Scotland, highlighting the UK government’s investment in key Scottish industries, public services, and economic development. The 2025 Scottish Labour Party Conference was an attempt to reinforced the party’s determination to present itself as a viable alternative to the SNP, with a focus on social justice, public service improvements, and economic growth.
