Grenfell silent walk.
West Kensington, London, UK. Saturday, 14th November 2024.
Members of the Grenfell community gather for the Grenfell Silent Walk through West Kensington, honouring the memory of the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell Tower fire, which also left over 70 people injured. The tragedy unfolded on the 14th June 2017, when a fire broke out at 00:54 BST in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower in North Kensington, West London. The blaze, which burned for 60 hours, was fuelled by highly flammable cladding—a factor identified as the “principal” reason for its rapid and devastating spread. On 4 September 2024, the final report of the six-year public inquiry into the disaster was published. Spanning 1,700 pages, its aims was to provide a comprehensive account of the events and failures that led to the tragedy.
