On 14th June 2017, a fire broke out in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower residential block in North Kensington, West London. On Wednesday 4th September , 2024 the public inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire published its final report after seven years. The final report of the Grenfell Inquiry exposes how a chain of failures across the government and the private sector led to the Grenfell Tower fire. The investigators found that the exterior cladding mainly caused the rapid spread of the fire. Protestors called for recommendations from the report to be implemented, which claimed the lives of 72 residents of Grenfell Tower. There were also calls for those responsible to be jailed and for decent homes for all.
