Protest group Fossil Free London held a protest outside the Department for Leveling Up, Housing and Communities in London to demand that Angela Rayner revokes the expansion of London City Airport and that there are no more London airport expansions. Ministers Angela Rayner and Louise Haigh (Transport Secretary) approved the expansion of London City Airport. This means the airport can now run with extended hours, more flights and more pollution. The group mentions on their social media “Whilst they rejected the airport’s plans to extend flying times into Saturday afternoons, they’re letting them increase passenger numbers by 38% at the cost of our climate and the local community.”
